Established in 1966, C.J. O’Shea and Company Limited is a privately owned property and construction company, delivering quality, innovative and sustainable developments across London and the South East.

Our History

Chairman, Crohan O’Shea, founded C. J. O’Shea Group Ltd in 1966 when he saw the opportunity to provide a reliable, high quality, specialist formwork service to main contractors. The company has successfully broadened its operations to include general construction, property development, plant hire whilst continuing to provide a non-adversarial value for money service on which clients can rely.

The group is led by Managing Director Rory O’Connor, who has built up the company over the last 20 years and is responsible for all major decisions. He has grown the group from a top RC contractor and plant hire business to the multi-faceted property investment, development and construction company it is today.

O’Shea has become a well-established construction company with an excellent reputation built on expertise, quality, innovation and professionalism. Over the last decade the company has also become known for expertise in the land market, having been involved in major sales and acquisitions across the capital.

Joint Venture

O’Shea develops the majority of their projects in conjunction with joint venture partners. Our long standing relationships with developers, housing associations and local authorities have led to many successful joint venture partnerships delivering a wide variety of mixed tenure developments in London and the south east.

O’Shea’s expertise includes the delivery of development opportunities through strategic land acquisition, by identifying land with good planning prospects for development in the medium and long-term through the plan-led system.

O’Shea can manage the process from site finding, through acquisition to development concepts and presenting evidence at local and neighbourhood plan examinations. We have considerable experience in managing all communications, and liaising with landowners, funders and local authorities.

We have the in-house capability to suit each unique development in our portfolio.

Construction

From pre-tender budgets to advanced value engineering and programming, we understand the requirement to balance financial needs and budgetary concerns with an innovative design tailored to fit our projects.

Our head office departments include estimating, designers, programming and procurement. Our site construction team and the cost construction team ensure that a project is built to the required timescale and within budget.

Refurbishment

Permitted Development Refurbishment

Permitted development rights came into force on 31 May 2013 to allow change of use on buildings from commercial to residential properties. Our extensive experience in refurbishments has allowed us to hone our skills to deliver the highest standards of development, allowing us to get an excellent return on our investment. With our in-house capabilities we can take these developments from start to finish, which means we are able to deliver residential fit out projects smoothly, on time and within budget.

Plant Yard

In addition to supplying equipment for our own projects, O’Shea Plant Hire, which is based at St Albans, provides a comprehensive plant and equipment service to some of London’s largest contractors and concrete frame companies.

Through continued investment, it has become a leading stockholder of the most modern concrete support systems available. In addition, a broad spectrum of specialist plant is in regular demand by our large customer base and group is stocked together with a wide range of general construction and site equipment, available as and when required. Our in-house team of CAD engineers provide cost effective solutions for the most complex structures and solutions.
