The Stage is a £750m mixed-use development in Shoreditch on the site of Shakespeare’s former Curtain Theatre. The development will consist of a 37 storey tower, shops, restaurants and office buildings. There will be 275,000 sq. ft of office space, 412 apartments for private sale and 400,000 sq. ft of mixed use space. The scheme is fully let with landmark lettings from WeWork, the American co-working provider, and Equinox, the American luxury fitness group. A heritage centre on the central plaza will showcase the remains of Shakespeare’s Curtain Theatre, where Romeo & Juliet and Henry V were first preformed. This will include a 200-seat sunken amphitheatre, a venue for plays to be performed.
O’Shea have taken on the £300m main contractor build contract for The Stage.
